PostSubject: ultamite tool   Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:49 pm

The tech tree should start with many technologies, then narrow down to one tool. the ultamite god tool. not just terraforming, but something that combines all other technologies into one fabulous device. Practically, the end of the game...

The god tools are going to exist, but they are going to consist of multiple technologies rather than just one. Researching all of these tools makes the player able to do practically anything. We call this "ascendance".

having one great technology at the end of the game, and then that being the end of the game, screams sporeness.

Basically, there is the godly terraforming research (i urge you to use the word research when talking about researchable discoveries, as tech is easily confused with Tech Objects, which are objects made in the Tech Editor) which unlocks the Planet Editor, the godly DNA manipulation which unlocks the Organism Editor and something to unlock the unlimited Nation Editor. That's the Editor Researches as i know it.

Ascension allows you to see everything in Observer Mode and lets your people "Ascend" (aka go through "Ascension Gates" and meld with the universe and be everything everywhere). It's another godly research. There will probably be more, i know that godly destruction tools are on the table somewhere...

actually, there's no such thing as a "destruction tool", because the universe cares not about whether you think something is creative or destructive. Destruction is a point of view.

Probably the same as those used for creation. For example, you can use volcanos both to create (volcanic islands) and destroy (Pompeii).

QFT.
Destroying something big is just creating little things.

Okay, i think you guys need to come up with a list of all the God Tools. When the wiki's added, be sure to get the list up there.
