| Updated Research Web | Wed May 08, 2013 5:20 pm by NickTheNick | Okay guys, here is my first Devblog to fulfill my responsibility as Strategy Team lead.
Finally I have procured some work to show for my efforts in conceptualizing the Strategy Mode. The Research Web is a pivotal component of post-sapience gameplay, as it is what drives your species forwards from the Awakening stage to their final steps into Ascension. Through a graphing program, I have managed …

| other than better graphics, and AI, I doubt we'll need antything else. Really though, graphics are a very serious thing to me, just saying. |

True, however remember the microbe current concept - we also still need assimilation, proto-cells, cell features (walls, vacuoles, etc), environmental hazards (pH, temperature), natural obstacles, and a GUI. Oh, and to include all the proto-cells & cell features we'll need to program in multicellular (i.e. the rest of the game).
But good graphics are important. |

Graphical User Interface. Google wasn't working?
Will someone please inform me how we will represent assimilation with a single sprite? |

| I know right, out of all things, google just stopped workin'.... anyways, how are the other microbes going to attack You? Do cell's have "dare I say Weapons", at all, I remembered that from the spore beta, but this isn't spore, so how will other cells attck You? |

Shiiii- Ideally we were going to release this 3D so I didn't htink much of this problem. I'm really not an expert on anything 2d, but just to go out on a limb I'd say that, for nutrients, we move the consumed sprite onto a lower layer and paste a "vescicle" sprite over it inside of the cell that absorbed it until the nutrient dissolves (by lowering its transparency to 0 and then being deleted). For things that get assimilated, once they get into the vescicle, we open up the cell editor to show then what they've gained and let the player decide how to fit it into the cell. If that wasn't useful, perhaps we can learn more from other games- I'm sure someone has done something of the sort before. Meanwhile, here's the wikipedia page for phagocytosis, the phenomena we're trying to replicate._________________ Remember our goals: simplicity, science, and playability. Keep them in mind always. We will be absorbing the protocells as part of endosymbiosis. Other cells will be absorbed as well, but probably broken up first._________________ Remember our goals: simplicity, science, and playability. Keep them in mind always. [OE]| [FAQ]|[Wiki]|[My Blog] |

| I can't wait to see this bloom! It starts as ovals moving on a screen, and will eventually be semi-complex organisms with joints and flagella and stuff swimming around, like spore.
only better.
Although spore is fun if you play it for what it is. |
