| Updated Research Web | Wed May 08, 2013 5:20 pm by NickTheNick | Okay guys, here is my first Devblog to fulfill my responsibility as Strategy Team lead.
Finally I have procured some work to show for my efforts in conceptualizing the Strategy Mode. The Research Web is a pivotal component of post-sapience gameplay, as it is what drives your species forwards from the Awakening stage to their final steps into Ascension. Through a graphing program, I have managed …

| Hello everyone,
I'm Gawayno!
I'm a college student studying game design, with 2 years experience of programming with C#, and a year with JavaScript. I would be new to C++ and OpenGL, but that could be a way to learn. I also do HTML work, I have a 2 year experience with HTML, and 1 year CSS. I heard your game from a friend where me and him are Spore fans, and when I've been told that you guys are recruiting, I needed to join this team to begin a career in the game industry.
Outside of that, I'm a avid fan of video gaming of course, I also like Japanese Animation and manga.
So, I hope I enjoy making this big game! |

| It's always nice to get coders. Hopefully, you'll stick around. For programming, you'll want to talk to roadkillguy and commander keen. Other than that, before you get too confused by the complexity od f the project, you should read the FAQs and relevant pages of the Wiki. You'll find links to them on the left hand side of the forums. if you have any questions afterwords, post them here. _________________ Remember our goals: simplicity, science, and playability. All right, thank you, I'll talk to them as soon as I can. But I read the FAQs and yet to read the wiki. |

| Also, I would like to add some of my experience on programming:
Of course, I use C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, I've also done actionscript in Flash.
The C# projects are: 5 Choose-Your-Own Adventure games on the command line application, will be 6 for a class soon. A right or wrong quiz with animal facts that was used as a Zoo Simulator on the command line application.
For Unity games, they are... A Target practice game prototype. A space shooter prototype. A simulation of the 4 dimensions. Various assignments for classes.
My HTML experience are: Various assignments in High School. Various assignments in College. 3 Projects in college, especially in a choose-your-own adventure format.
My actionscript experience are: A click to spin game for a 24 hour game challenge at school, though it didn't win any prizes but brought humor to the competition. |

| Welcome!
Did it really take a year to get into css after html? I figured most people learned them both at the same time...
Do you have any experience with non-managed memory? C++ is big on that. Class structure and inheritance too.
OpenGL isn't hard, c++ is. |

Yes, I took HTML in my senior year of high school, then I learned CSS in my Fall 2011 semester. Non-managed memory? I'm not sure, but I certainly know Class structure and inheritance from C#. |

| Ah well in 2007 I decided I wanted to make an MMO, and therefore learned html + css + actionscript all in one go. Once I got over that, I decided to try and make a collection of simple multiplayer games. When I got bored of that, I made a crazy constant multiplayer sidescroller-shooter called MFFA, just about when I joined these forums. By then it was 2010, and I bought this laptop and hastily installed ubuntu on it. When flash wouldn't work under wine, I dove into c++ and wrote a minecraft clone. I worked on that for a good year (My longest project ever), and then got sick of it. Since then I've written lots of little starters (nothing to be proud of), and I'm currently writing a library to simplify everything I've re-written in these.
Of course, it's hard to write a library without having something to test it with, but since I've had so many c++ projects I'm ashamed to mention them.
Therefore, my current projects are:
this The dave library smallworld Glow
I didn't expect to write about my entire programming history, but there you have it. |

Ah, amazing, my programming life began with actionscript for a flash class in 2008 with doing some actionscript in the final project. Then I got into HTML in my last year of high school in 2010, of course, we learned more flash in that class. Originally, when I started college, but I tried it out, was too hard at first due to the teacher we had. But when I took another class about programming, it became a breeze. I once again took a web design class that same year two semesters in a row, and then I learn CSS in the second class. I then took two Unity-based classes each semester and learned javascript, then I took the 24 game challenge and use flash as part of the challenge, didn't win anything, but was worth it bringing laughs for the people.
And yes, that's my programming history as well. |

| Unity based classes, really? That's crazy. I never really bothered with javascript due to the fact that it was executed client side, and couldn't be guaranteed. I favored php much more during my web days. |

I learned PHP too in my fail 2011 class as an assignment. But yes, our classes teaches Unity, despite being a not well known engine, we do use it for C# or Javascript. |
